The Technical Resource Centre provides technical support and advice to the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.

Spread over three buildings, comprising 12 schools across a variety of disciplines, 350 members of staff, 1000 postgraduate students and almost 4000 undergraduate students the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences is one of the largest faculties at UNSW.

The TRC manages a range of services including web, AV and IT; and supports serveral servers, multimedia, language, electronic music and general access labs, video/audio production facilities; as well as managing equipment loans and audio visual presentation facilities.

The TRC is responsible for managing the following ICT

  1. Desktop computing infrastructure
  2. Server infrastructure
  3. Multimedia equipment
  4. Audiovisual faciilties
  5. Language facilities
  6. Faculty websites
  7. Support staff using these facilities
  8. Backup and archive all faculty data
  9. Provide advice and support to faculty staff and students
  10. Develop IT policies
  11. Asset management and tracking
  12. Effective budgeting
Management of these services includes:
  • Maintenance and upgrades of current technology
  • Investigation of future technologies
  • Implementation of new services
  • Change management strategies
