TRC and IT Service Centre
What is the difference between the TRC and the IT Service Centre?
The TRC is a locally based technology unit. The TRC largely supports specialist technology needs of the Faculty of Arts, Design & Architecture, in particular labs, studios and production loan equipment. The TRC is situated in Room 133 of the Robert Webster Building. The TRC is made up of members of the Multimedia & Immersive Technology Support team. This team is part of the central UNSW IT Division. Other teams in UNSW IT support other services. e.g. Desktop Support who design and support the Windows and Mac Standard Operating Environment (SOE), Multimedia and AV Team who support CATS rooms (Centrally Allocated Teaching Spaces).
The good news is that all IT services can be contacted the same way. The IT Service Centre or "Servicedesk" is part of the central UNSW IT Division and is the best way to contact IT.
The IT Service Centre is a central hub for all reported technical incidents and requests, across the university. It supports all local faculty based IT units (including TRC), as well as all Central IT support units (including desktop support, AV, computer, network, Uniwide).
All UNSW Arts and Social Sciences staff and students can request assistance from the TRC or UNSW IT through the IT Service Centre, either by email, phone or logging in online. Either way, the only information you need to remember is to call the IT Service Centre on 9385 1333 or email itservicecentre@unsw.edu.au. (For critical teaching situations always contact the service desk via phone).
