Double Virtual Presence Robot

17 March 2016

The TRC currently have a Double Virtual Presence (VP) robot from Double Robotics. We are interested in piloting possible use cases for this technology.

The Double VP robot is an iPad equipped, mobile, self-balancing and lightweight robot, with the benefit of video call functionality and the added ability for the remote user to smoothly manoeuvre around an office or classroom to give a more ‘physical presence’.

The Double VP robot has use both in the workplace and classroom. For example, at the University of Montana the Double has been utilised to create a ‘Hybrid’ classroom to allow their online students to remotely attend classes and have face-to-face contact with their classmates and the tutor. Visit the Double Robotics website  to learn more about how the Double VP robot can be used.

If you are a HDR student in Arts and Social Sciences, or a member of UNSW staff, and are interested in trialing or researching possible applications for the Double please enquire at the link below.
