Course folders
Course folders are an allocation of network storage available for staff to share files with students of a particular course. It also allows students to submit digital work that may be larger than the allowable file size in Moodle.
It is connected as drive M: in the PC labs and in the Mac OS X labs it will appear on the desktop as “CoursefoldersFAS”.
Subfolders
Course folders have a standard set of subfolders:
- Resources (provides student course materials)
- TempWorkSpace (Student/staff may use or store files temporarily here)
- Submissions (Where students can submit their digital work, reading of files is only accessible to academic staff)
Subfolders | Permissions for academics | Permissions for students |
---|---|---|
Resources | Read Write | Read Only |
TempWorkSpace | Read Write | Read Write |
Submissions | Read Write | Write Only |
At least one subfolder must be created by an academic staff under Submissions in order for students to create/upload/copy files there – files can’t be created/uploaded/copied directly into the Submissions subfolder.
Course folders can be requested at any time throughout the year. If you have tutors that also need access to this folder, please provide their zID. Students that are enrolled in the course code you provide will automatically have access to the course folders.
