How to use a Zoom H1 audio recorder
The Zoom H1 is a lightweight and easy to use audio recorder ideal for recording lectures, presentations, interviews & oral examinations
Quick start
-
Slide battery cover off and insert batteries according to negative/positive symbols.
-
Select recording format [MP3 is best in most cases*].
-
Slide the “on” button down until the display comes on.
-
Press the red “record” button. [You are recording when the timecode numbers on the ZOOM H1 display are counting up].
-
To stop recording press the “record” button again.
File management
-
Use the playback buttons to listen to files. [Best with headphones].
-
The Zoom H1 records to a microSD card. As these are small and fiddly, it is preferable to transfer files via a USB cable. Connect the USB cable to the computer and the ZOOM H1 with the recorder off. When prompted on the screen select "USB CArd" by pressing the “REC” button. In the computer, navigate to the H1_SD folder and drag files directly from the disc image to a space on your computer.
-
To delete files: Navigate to a file with the menu. Press the Delete button. Confirm with the Record button.
-
To Format (wipe) the entire card: Hold the Delete button while turning the recorder on. Confirm with the Record button.
