Media Creation Studio

Location: Room 218, Level 2, Morven Brown
Bookings:
MB218 is a self-access room for staff and student media creation. To initially gain access to the room:
- Contact the IT Service Centre by email to ITServiceCentre@unsw.edu.au to request to use the Media Creation Studio. Please describe the nature of your work.
- You will be contacted to arrange a room induction.
- You will be granted access to the online booking system
- You will be granted card swipe access
Subsequent bookings can be self-managed.

What to bring into the room
- It is important to bring in a script for your recording even if you are great at adlibbing. You will find this will help with consistency and efficiency of your recordings, this is especially important when takes are involved.
- If Powerpoints are involved please have your powerpoint widescreen (16:9). If you require assistance with converting the TRC are able to convert your non-widescreen powerpoint (4:3) to widescreen, please allow time to do so.
How to log on to the computer
- Please sign in to the room computer using your zID and zPass

Voice recording guidelines using the Media Room computer
The RODE NTG-1 is the dedicated microphone for any computer recordings e.g. Screenflow, powerpoint, quicktime recording.
Checklist
- If you have created a script for the session be sure to bring it along during your recording
- Before any sound recording is made make sure the "mics and mixer" switched on.
- When using the room computer please select "Avid Mbox mini" as the audio source in Screenflow or other software applications.
- Test the sound level on the software as well as the RODE RODECaster making sure it doesn’t clip during recording.
- Create a short video/audio test to check the audio before recording your programme.

The Inbuilt Imac webcam is the dedicated webcam for any computer recordings e.g. Screenflow, Powerpoint, Quicktime, Captivate, Ispring and Camtasia recording.
- Select inbuilt webcam as the video source in Screenflow or other software applications
