eLearning
Technology Enabled Learning and Teaching (TELT) refers to the platform of educational technology available at UNSW. The TELT Platform features a collection of online tools and services that teaching staff can incorporate into their courses.
Functionality ranges in scope from course management, assessment and content distribution to lecture capture, web conferencing, media streaming as well as collaborative tools and personal web publishing.
Core systems
There are 5 core TELT systems currently available:
- Moodle (course management)
- Echo360/Lectopia (lecture capture) – Accessed within Moodle
- theBox (media management)
- WordPress (blogs)
- Wikispaces (wikis)
Pilot program
In addition to the core systems outlined above, the Learning and Teaching Unit (LTU) also conducts an ongoing Pilot Program to identify and evaluate other applications for potential inclusion in the core suite of tools.
A list of current and past pilot programs is available on the TELT website.
Staff interested in participating in the pilot program can submit an Expression of Interest via a web form.
TELT gateway
The TELT Gateway is maintained by the LTU and provides access to all major eLearning services at UNSW, as well as those currently being piloted. The gateway also features extensive support materials for staff on many of these systems.
Moodle
Moodle is the UNSW's current course management system (also known as learning management system). It enables instructors to create secure sites in which to share course content, conduct assessments or activities, communicate with students, and allow students to communicate and collaborate with each other.
Lecture capture
Echo360 (formerly Lectopia) is the UNSW's current lecture-capture system, available in dozens of venues on campus. Lectures or events scheduled for recording are captured automatically and made available online for students to access later.
theBox
theBox is the digital media management system for UNSW. It allows staff to upload, publish and manage content, including videos, audio and PDFs. The majority of usage takes place through Moodle, including distribution of media content to students as well as student media submission activities.
WordPress
WordPress blogs are maintained by the Central Web Unit, and available to instructors and postgraduate students only.
Wikispaces
Wikispaces wikis are administered by the Central Web Unit, and can be used to set up collaborative websites for courses or project teams.
