Email Safety
The University receives millions of email on a daily basis. Unfortunately, many of those emails are spam or phishing (scam) and are malicious emails that can cause harm to your computer and the University. Here are some guides on how to stay protected:
- UNSW IT will never request usernames and passwords via email, so you shouldn’t respond to emails that ask you for a password or financial details
- Never click on a link in an email that asks you to go to a website to enter personal details as the email could be fraudulent
- Be cautious of opening unknown attachments from an unknown person or fake account that appears to be from someone genuine
- Never open an attachment you are not expecting. If unsure, contact the sender to verify
